Views On ISC & Chartered Accountancy :

ISC syllabus is one of the most comprehensively drafted syllabuses for 11th and 12th classes, which become the stepping stones to professional courses.  It requires persistent hard work, concentration and engagement of the student in a consistent manner to ensure the building of a sound foundation in the subjects studied by them.

With the recent changes in the ISC curriculum, not only 12th is a board class which determines the future career path of the student but the final examinations of class 11th which is a portal to 12th are also being centrally conducted under the guidelines of ISC Council. Hence it has become very important that the students as well as their guardians exercise utmost care in ensuring that the studies for these two levels of education is done in a manner which assures necessary preparation for the future professional courses to be pursued.

Since Sky Academy runs professional courses as well, I perfectly understand the requirements of learning required at these basic levels of Class XIth and XIIth so that my students become equipped to take on a professional course of their choice. To ensure the long term benefit of my students who are my wards, I have to follow unconventional but proven and time tested methods of teaching which involve ignoring the pace of syllabus covered at the individual schools so that I can create a deep sense of understanding among my students in respect of fundamentals of Accountancy and give them adequate time to practice the subject & strengthen their basics rather than rushing through the syllabus just for the sake of completion.

Even though the Sky Academy has the pride of giving City Toppers and Rankers year after in ISC Results, yet the core emphasis has never been on only ensuring that good percentages are attained. I believe in making students competent, so that even those who are weak in studies and do not obtain high percentages can do something meaningful with their lives. They are able to become financially independent, support their families but also contribute to society.

However no endeavor of mine can bear fruit without the cooperation of my students and their parents who have over the past 24 years shown their faith in my practices and supported me. This support also requires some discipline on the part of the students and in their home environment which ensures that children do not use mobile, social media platforms or gaming devices, excessively or in an unrestricted manner. Technology must be used with moderation and some vigilance on the part of parents is required to ensure that the students study on a regular basis at home in addition to the studies conducted at Sky Academy or their respective schools.

Further in case of any query or issue the students and their parents are free to approach me and resolve their issue by making a prior appointment in respect of the same.

There was a time when the general perception was that only a student from science stream could make a worth-while career. But with time, the society has learned that the science which is used for inventions and innovations also needs commerce to survive. Currently the commerce stream offers a host of career options for those who wish to venture in it. One of the most coveted courses opted by the students, in the sphere of commerce is Chartered Accountancy.

It is one of the very few professional courses in the Commerce Stream, the journey of which can be commenced immediately after appearing for XIIth Board exams. The benefits of qualifying the exam and becoming a Chartered Accountant, the heights that a CA professional can scale, how he can contribute not only to his personal growth but also to the growth of the nation, are facts that are widely known & acknowledged. It is one of the most esteemed courses and those who qualify it are usually held in high intellectual regard by the society, on account of the sheer difficulty in qualifying the exam.

Students often ask me if the exam is so difficult to qualify then, why they should even attempt at it. The answer to this lies in the curriculum of the course designed by the ICAI. The syllabus that is taught at Foundation and Intermediate level, has been designed comprehensively and is the most suited to meet the requirements of a student to help him learn the practical applications of commerce. If he does not qualify ultimately, then also his knowledge will not go in vain.

Unlike other courses or streams where the syllabus can provide real value only on successfully qualifying the course, an unqualified student of Chartered Accountancy course is never empty-handed. If he fails to  qualify and eventually goes into some other service or opens his own shop/ business or may be joins the family business or ventures with a start-up, all his knowledge that he amassed in the preparation of this course comes to be of use.

I have heard the testimonies of many unqualified students as well, who till today recount how the concepts of Accountancy they learnt helped them in preparing and managing accounts of their businesses more efficiently. How the provisions of Taxations that they learnt, helped them in their personal tax planning or resolving GST issues in business and saved a lot of cost that they would have otherwise spent on professional help. How the knowledge of the applicable Laws helped them understand the compliance requirements or proceed about incorporating their own company and so forth.

However the benefits of learning from this course can be attained only if the student has studied from experienced & committed teachers and he has himself sacrificed everything for the sake of his studies. Self- discipline, sincerity, hard work & consistency is the key. The rigorous course demands long study hours which in turn requires that he must keep all distractions like social media, excessive friendship, games & other recreational activities at bay. It is only then that he stands a good chance of qualifying or if not even qualifying then at least becoming capable of putting that knowledge to use.

Based on the testimonials of my students & my own experiences, I have always affirmed that Chartered Accountancy Course is one of the finest courses which will always end up rewarding the students. It is the real gold among the whole array of professional courses – and just as times have proven that gold’s value will never be lost – Chartered Accountancy will never lose its value. It may evolve and grow and often change, but never erode.
